In the capital of Belarus, on 87-m to year of life died a famous actor Rostislav Yankovsky, the elder brother of Oleg Yankovsky. That died people’s artist of the USSR, became known from the message, which appeared on the official website of the National academic drama theatre named after M. Gorky, where Rostislav Ivanovich has worked for several decades.
“A great sorrow has befallen us all – today died a wonderful man, a great actor – people’s artist of the USSR Rostislav Yankovsky, His death painful and an irreparable loss for the family, for friends and for millions of fans of his talent, a huge loss for the Art, the service of which he devoted his entire life. A great actor will always be cast, brilliantly played them, but kind and sincere, open and bright, unique, courageous people – will forever remain in the hearts of family and friends, in memory of the millions of people for whom he was, is and will be an idol”, — stated in the message of the Belarusian theater.
It is known that civil funeral for the actor will be held at the Grand theatre on June 28.
Rostislav Yankovsky was born on 5 Feb 1930. To his credit — more than 160 roles in theater and film. Among the most famous paintings, starring actor such films as “two comrades were Serving” (1968), “Adam’s Rib” (1990) and “a friend of the deceased” (1997).
In 1951 Jankowski graduated from the Studio at the Leninabad drama theatre, and several years later moved to Minsk together with his wife Nina Cheishvili and heir of Igor. In 1957, the actor begins his work at the National academic drama theatre named after M. Gorky, where he worked until his death.
In his life he received many awards and honors, among which such titles as winner of the State prize of Belarus and honorary citizen of Minsk. In addition, a huge contribution to the development of Belarusian culture Jankowski gave the order of Francysk Skaryna and order of the Fatherland III degree. People’s artist, he was also Chairman of the international film festival “Listopad” in Minsk.
From Rostislav Yankovsky has two sons — a 65-year-old actor Igor Yankovsky and 46-year-old actor and Director Vladimir Yankovsky.
