Furs and skins in the design of living space applied for centuries. This helps make the interior a posh, luxurious, exclusive and comfortable. Today to replace natural fur came artificial. It is not only eco-friendly and stylish material and is accessible from the cost point of view.

We asked the designer Irina Fefilova how to use fur in the interior, to serve for a long time.

Basic rules

There are the following rules for the use of furs and hides in the interior of the composition:

• To comply with the rules of classic design, you should avoid vivid contrasts. This will suit a monochromatic black and white skins. Combining them will help to zone the room and to give it rigor. This is a relevant solution for small spaces. Black and white color visually expand the interior.
• Bright and unusual fur used, when talking about avant-garde and high-tech style. The range of designer stores you can find coloured skins, decorated with a Zebra or cow. This will make the interior vibrant and saturated.
• For country houses, where the rule of rustic style, ideal minimalist attributes. It can be covers and floor mats made of sheepskin, which will fit well into the design space of a country manor.

Skins can be used not only as a floor or wall decorations, but also as upholstery. Chairs and sofas lined with mink or leather, look unique and expensive. Because of this, even a Studio apartment can be transformed into a luxury residential area.

How to care for furs and skins?

To remove stains suit the composition of the starch and liquid dishwashing. Consistency is applied to the stain and aged for half an hour. Then the stained area should be cleaned with a damp cloth. This will help to quickly get rid of streaks or stains after eating.

White fur to better handle hydrogen peroxide. This will help keep the structure of the material and color contrast. It is important to remember that the skins and fur should not be kept in rooms with high humidity. This will inevitably lead to the appearance of bald spots and spending to buy new things: to hide or restore such defects is impossible.

The advantages of faux fur is that it can be washed. Natural products deform after washing and fading. Therefore, caring for them involves only manual cleaning.
