The festival of arts “Chereshnevy Les” was opened on the day of the 60th anniversary of the legendary theatre.

Play “Tell me people, where is this train…” in the theater
“Sovremennik” opened the XVI international festival of arts “Chereshnevy Les”, which
held under the motto “the Taste of jubilee. Jubilee art”. This wording is not accidental. Round date in this
year is celebrated the leading theaters of the capital: “the Contemporary” — 60, a half-century — theatre
named after Natalia Sats, 90 years in the theater named Yermolova.

Birthday at the theater “Sovremennik” has decided to celebrate
premiere. “For me, it is crucial that in the so-called “jubilee” performance on stage was our youth, those
who in the future will be responsible for the theatre, which, I think, all my life
tries to match the name given at birth — “Contemporary”, —
explained the choice of the theatre’s artistic Director Galina Volchek.

Play “Frontovichka”, which formed the basis of the performance
“Tell me people, where is this train…” wrote 30-year-old playwright from
Ekaterinburg Anna Baturina, a student of Nikolai Kolyada. Stage embodiment
came from the Director Marina Brusnikina and set designer Nikolai Simonov.

The choice of the play, which was based on the story of the tragic
the sergeants love Stories of Mary and Matthew Kravchuk, which started the war
and lasted until the late 40’s coincided with the first production in history
“Contemporary”. Exactly 60 years ago, on 15 April 1956 young actors, students
Oleg Efremov, among whom was Galina Volchek, Oleg Tabakov, Igor Kvasha,
Evgeni Evstigneev played the play “Forever living” on the play by Victor Rozov.

“It all started when we were studying on the 3rd course of the Studio School
The Moscow art theatre. We (me, Igor Kvasha, Lyudmila Ivanova, a few other guys,
who later became artists of “Contemporary”) taught Mat old
as we said, great artists. Between them and us, with our lives, with
our problems, there lies an abyss. And here came a new teacher, young, Oleg Yefremov, it was his first experience in teaching. Of course, with him we had
age difference: we are third-years, and he is seven or eight years older than us.
But he was one of us, we speak the same language. We saw a man
with brand new ideas, terminology, actions… Yefremov said: “we
must be a theater! Let’s put the performance and go anywhere,” recalled
Galina Volchek.
