Alexei Leonov truly happy people. He’s big and friendly family. The astronaut met his wife Svetlana in 1957 in Kremenchug, where he served in the guards regiment, and fell in love with the girl at first sight.

In an interview with the pilot told the story of meeting with his beloved. He met her during a walk with friends. Seeing a group of girls, Alex framed one of them bandwagon – his idea of a joke. Future wife of Alexei Leonov, Svetlana did not notice this and fell.

Svetlana came to her daughter in town, and found her in a deplorable state. Eyes and face of the girl was yellow. The parents turned in the best Metropolitan hospital, but doctors were unable to save her. In 1996 Victoria had died from viral hepatitis, complicated by pneumonia.

Alexei and Svetlana is also the youngest daughter Oksana, who was born in 1967. She is now married, works as a translator. Oksana has two children – the grandchildren of the cosmonaut Alexei Leonov. Eldest granddaughter’s name is Karina, she is 29. Grandson of the legendary astronaut is now 20. His name is Daniel-Sergei.

Biography of astronaut

Alexei Leonov was born in 1934 in Siberia, near Kemerovo. His father was a miner and was engaged in agriculture. The mother of astronaut was a teacher.

In 1948 the family moved to Kaliningrad. Youth astronaut was fascinated with aviation. Brother of Alexey Leonov, was an aviation technician, and the boy with interest studied his notes.

After graduating from high school, astronaut moved to Ukraine, in Kremenchug to train to be a pilot.

In Chuguev the guy studied at the higher school for fighter pilots, which successfully graduated in 1957 and went to serve in the Red Army.

In 1960 Leonov studied at the cosmonauts training Center. Leonov also studied science, participated in conferences, has written more than thirty reports.
