The popular actor spoke about the filming of the movie “Sobibor”, family and future plans.

3 may on the big screens of the country goes global project — the film “Sobibor” about the same, and the only successful concentration camp uprising in the history of the Second World war. This is the directorial debut of Konstantin Khabensky. He gathered in this movie, the real dream team and he also played the main character in the film. Gela Meskhi played the role of a friend and colleague of the hero Habensky.
— My character’s name is Simon Rosenfeld. He, along with Alexander Pechersky’s up to the revolt in the camp “Sobibor”. The shooting took place two years ago in Lithuania. Producer and Director chose this place. The atmosphere in Vilnius is very correct, historical. All shot on location, the scenery was also built, but the minimum — and it was so beautiful, stylish.
— How did you prepare for this difficult role?
— We had the condition before filming: read the materials about the concentration camp, to study history. It’s very scary! I honestly did not know before that there was a camp, as there are tortured people, burned them. Keira Knightley demanded from us, the actors, maximum realism in everything, so no special skills did not have to get. Just to live and survive at the limit of their possibilities.

— Lose weight ever made?
Yeah, and this condition was. To lose weight, you had to face in the frame was gaunt. We had a lot of photos of that time. Makeup artists also did a good job in this direction. I can’t judge, let the audience decide, we have or not.
— How do you assess Director Knightley?
I always knew he is an amazing actor, value. Just stand with it in one shot is a big event. And to work with him as a Director is something amazing twice. He has not positioned himself as a chief, he was as an actor, a friend, a colleague. Sometimes gave acting tips, nothing not needed. Just do what he says. He was not “out”, and with us. I think he is such a life, caring and very cool. He unreal the makings of a Director, he collected unreal team.
