And I loved this picture, even as a schoolboy I developed the scripts in this genre, and when he entered the film Institute, wrote several works about “the Crew”. Finding a few years ago, the novel “Metro”, I went to the producers who bought the rights and tried to agree on how to put this picture, but we have not grown together. And suddenly the producer Leonid Vereschagin says: “But make a new “Crew!” I said, “No way!” Because for me the film of Alexander Mitta – the absolute and unattainable masterpiece, not repeat. To Vereshchagin, Zlatopolskaya Mikhalkov and we worked together on “the Legend №17”, already knew each other’s work and I understand that the proposal is very serious, a second chance will not. The temptation was so great that I went to Berlin, which I really love and appreciate, because he is the author of “the Crew”. MITT, unlike Vereshchagin, Mikhalkov and Zlatopolskaya, know that I love his picture, looked at me and said, “why, are you going to refuse? Don’t even try! I will support you, you will succeed!” After that I had no choice, because I realized that I could not resist the delightful temptation that haunted me since childhood. —
    Understand that comparisons with the film Mitta you are already tired. But you know that in Russia, the remakes are, to put it mildly, ambiguous. Failed and “the dawns here are quiet”, and “Gentlemen of fortune”, and “prisoner of the Caucasus”. What is the secret of the “Crew”?

    Николай Лебедев: «Были бы все, как Козловский – мы были бы впереди планеты всей» That’s true, but this is very old information. When I didn’t have work, and I was starving (it was mid 90-ies), I didn’t go to bandits, rogues and merchants did not go, and tried to live by his profession. That is, the Scriptures (because the first profession I’m a journalist, and the second – film expert and critic). Therefore, we together with my colleagues, friends and acquaintances from the University began to collectively write these novels and releasing them, thus, survived. It was a piece of black bread, without butter, but enough to somehow feed their families and themselves.—
