Marcus, in the web you can find a lot of your photos, clips, recordings of speeches. But nowhere is there mention of your family…
I have a big family. Mother, stepfather and two brothers. None of the relatives involved in creativity except for me. Singer, actor, Director…for them it’s a frivolous profession. And joking: “All of you have a business, and I’m a little cuckoo”. The younger brother, Mathis, works as a basketball coach, preparing young athletes for competition in Latvia. As a senior, martinis, checks the food for quality… Mother’s name is INES, she is a teacher of the Latvian language and literature. By the way, the education I received in school, where he teaches mother, but she did not study. My mom is a good, but moderately strong. For example, from 3 to 6 class, I had difficulty to prepare for the lesson and get over it the lowest rating. How did you and mom support communication? You’re constantly flying around the world – Russia, Europe…
My mom is an active user of social networks, especially Facebook. Some friends who accidentally fell to the page, immediately guessed that the woman on the main photo of my mom. Her entire wall littered repost my photos and songs. Yesterday, for example, when I flew from Tallinn to Riga, went straight to mom. Know that the week will be absent in his hometown. That’s not true, my mom and I also are conflicts and quarrels. Especially about my work. I have women of conservative views.. for Example, mom can scold you for that photographed half-naked. And when I went on the show “Want to Meladze” it was generally opposed. Besides, Mama was not thrilled that I listened to Russian music. But everything returned to normal when the project ended. She realized that there is nothing wrong. Mommy actually started to download and listen to the songs of popular Russian performers. Of course, it may seem that mom is skeptical about my beginnings. And there are moments for which you were embarrassed in front of mom?
Most of all in childhood. For example, I always rehearsed the song in front of a mirror. Naturally, I thought that no one is home. Mom suddenly came into the room, and there is ridiculous I dance and sing into your hairbrush. At the time I thought I was doing something shameful. Then in 10-12 years I was afraid to speak to the family for the New Year. They wanted to hear the songs in my performance and I was embarrassed at least three years doing music. My mom is my main critic. Especially in a relationship. Once in 22 years, I introduced her to my girlfriend. She was older than me by 8 years, I did not feel this difference. But mom was very cautious about it, never accepted it. I think the fact that they did not know her.—

My dad was a sailor. His name was Alvis. He died of blood cancer when I was only 9 months. In his honor I even got a tattoo on his shoulder in the shape of an anchor. About him I only know by photos in albums and the stories of my grandmother.—
Greatly influenced you in your life?
I grew up totally independent person. Of course, it’s a shame that not met him in conscious age, but I feel his presence spiritually. For example, at the final audition show “Want to Meladze” on stage it seemed to me that he is somewhere nearby. Plus you feel dead grandmother, who always worried about me and my endeavors. I often think of the dear to me people. Especially when life is going bad. Believe, dad and grandma are moving me in the right direction where it would be better.

What about the difficult moments you say?
Today, if you look at me, hardly think that as a child I was fat, wore glasses and had an overbite. I wasn’t a handsome man who was in love with girls. On the contrary, a loser, over which mocked. The neighborhood kids mocked, teased and called me names. At the time I was about 14 years old. Then I didn’t like to share with anyone, their emotions, and because of this was often depressed. Even wanted to commit suicide. In addition, we have in the family had financial difficulties. Thank God, this difficult period is over. By the way, I at one point realized I needed to celebrate with their problems himself. Now, as adults, want to do the Fund or to hold a charity evening to help children who are faced with similar stories.

The family couldn’t get you out of the doldrums?
Mom felt it hard to accept myself. She thought, I read teen magazines and be depressed fashionable. She doesn’t fully understand what’s happening to me… However, as the whole family. And I didn’t talk much because I was ashamed and uncomfortable to talk about this topic. I worked in a music school, but I didn’t have friends. I even cried because of this. But one day I said to myself: “don’t limp!” Music became my salvation. I set a goal to prove to all offenders, within 10 years, achieve success and fame. And make this all possible. I was lucky that this dream has been with me three years – the desire to write music, to perform on stage. Your mother was able to meet his love after his father’s death… How did the stepfather?
I did not protested her happiness! Stepfather very much helped my mom. For example, every morning he used to take me and my brothers to school, which was located a few dozen kilometers from home. In addition to classes, in the evenings I had a lot of concerts, and he found time to take me there. Even when he lacked money for gasoline, he found a way to get us brothers to school. —
In one of your clips used old footage with Jeanne Friske. Did you know?
No, Jeanne, released an unofficial video, which was directed by Alan Badoev. The idea appeared spontaneously, it was to create beautiful images to the audio. In the clip, and Polina Gagarina, and Vera Brezhnev, and the soloist of group “VIA Gra”… his directing career, Alan has shot more than 600 clips. And there was a recording with Joan. He had official permission to use the materials from the shoot. The clip was released a month before her death. After its release, native Friske has not written to us any charges. I knew Joan only on the songs. She for me has always been exemplary – both in creativity and in life. Unfortunately, I was unable to meet her.—

I communicate well singer Anna Sedokova. Can ask her for advice, and I have. We can also criticize the creative work of each other.
