Former assistant Oleg Tabakov lost his job at the legendary theater.

The famous Russian theater Director Konstantin
Bogomolov commented about his departure from the Moscow art
theatre named after A. P. Chekhov, which appeared today. He said that
the theater management has no further plans connected with him as a Director.

“I didn’t want to talk about it until September for many reasons, the main one
which is that I want peace, want to work, — said the Director.
— Because a lot of work, and the gab don’t want to. But I have to give a brief
review. My contract with the Moscow art theatre as assistant artistic Director
ends in the summer. I’ve never watched it, during the life of Oleg Pavlovich
the contract is renewed automatically by mutual love and need. It will last or not — I haven’t discussed, and
I do not see any drama or significance. I was the assistant of Oleg Pavlovich and
will forever remain his student and Director, and he for me — Master and Actor
and just dear to me who’s helped me and protected me and my
business. The case of a new artistic Director to select a team according to their
taste and understanding of theatre and its future.”

Bogomolov confirmed that “under the new
art policy” in the management of the theatre has no plans to cooperate with
him as a Director.

“I can say that I, frankly, did not expect that
happens, — says Konstantin. — I have hinted to my dear wife
whom we have long years of creative harmony that the “Three sisters”
will be my last work at the Moscow art theatre in the coming years. We parted on a high
note. Everyone who mattered what I was doing in the theater, no worries: life
long, I’m still young and I’m sure we’ll meet again and again on different
sites. Coming performances will remain under my care and will not be subject
washout, I’m sure. In the world there is happiness. But the main thing — peace and freedom”.
