JSC “national Media Group” (NMG) announced the completion of the deal to buy a 25% share of the newspaper “Sport-Express”. It is specified that the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the newspaper “Sport-Express” will become world champion in rhythmic gymnastics, political and public figure Alina Kabaeva – athlete from September 2014 also heads the Board of Directors of NMG.

In the release, “National Media Group” observed that the integration of “Sport-Express” part of the media holding will provide an opportunity to attract additional resources for development of publications, as well as will strengthen its position in the market of sports media.

The newspaper “Sport-Express” was founded in 1991. The publication is distributed in more than 309 cities of Russia and abroad.

Note that in the track record Alina Kabaeva has accumulated a lot of high positions: from 2001 to 2005 she was a member of the High Council of party “United Russia”, from 2005 to 2007 – member of the Public chamber of the Russian Federation, from 2007 to 2014 – Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 5th and 6th convocations.

In September 2014 Kabaeva has decided to finish the Deputy activity in the state Duma of the Russian Federation and to hold a post of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “National Media Group”, the gymnast for six years he headed the public Council of the media holding.

The holding company “national Media Group” consists of broadcasting company “Petersburg-the Fifth channel”, JSC “First channel”, TV channel REN TV, the newspaper Izvestia, the radio station “Russian News Service”, LLC “Art pictures vision”, “Metro-Petersburg”, the company “Alliance Media” (TV channels, Discovery, Eurosport).
