But after more than 50 years, 71-year-old Hussie and 72-year-old Whiting filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of Santa Monica in California, accusing Paramount Pictures of sexual exploitation, fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress. For underage actors, the director initially promised that there would be no nudity in the film, but on the last day of shooting he said, that the film would “fail” if they didn't perform the wedding night scene properly without clothes.

The lawsuit alleges that Zeffirelli showed the actors where the camera would be set up and that, in fact, the viewer will not see nudes. Although in reality everything turned out to be quite different.
