Opening of the monument took place on the birthday of the world famous Opera singer.

Today is a magnificent Dmitri Hvorostovsky could have been 57 years old. The singer died 22 November 2017, after more than two years of hard struggle with brain cancer. During his illustrious career he has performed in the best Opera theaters in the world, but living abroad, in London, never forgot his homeland and visited the charity concerts in different cities, and, of course, in his native Krasnoyarsk. He left charitable after he learned about his terrible diagnosis. Even when it was difficult just to stand on stage and the disease killed him in front, Dimitri continued to perform, and all proceeds from the concert were given to the treatment of children with cancer. The case singer continues to this day 21 October in the Great hall of the Moscow Conservatory will take place a charity concert “Dmitri Hvorostovsky and friends to children”, which will feature the world Opera stars. The Foundation also develops Hvorostovsky competition for young musicians in memory of the Opera singer – it is planned that it will be held annually in Russia, Austria and the UK.

At the request of Dmitry, his ashes were divided into two parts, the first urn is located at the base of the monument, opened in September in Krasnoyarsk on the square near the Siberian state Institute of arts, who had earlier been given the name of the artist.

The second urn is buried at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow – that’s where today took place the opening of the monument to the legend of the Opera scene. The ceremony was attended by parents Hvorostovsky, his wife and their two children, as well as friends and fans. The figure of the singer, executed in bronze, painted in the colors of music with his unique voice.
