The UN thanked the Russian tennis player for collaboration, but its future activities as a goodwill Ambassador, decided to suspend pending investigation, reports The Guardian.
The UN representative told the press:
The UN continues to be grateful to Maria for her support in our work, especially in the struggle with the consequences of the Chernobyl accident. However, after the recent recognition of Sharapova we suspend her activity as a goodwill Ambassador until, until the end of the investigation.
