The Golden Globe Awards took place at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. =”Hollywood has announced the winners of the 2023 Golden Globe Awards” />The 80th anniversary ceremony of the Golden Globe Film Awards, which has long been assigned a second name – “Oscar Rehearsal” – was held in one of the most luxurious hotels in Los Angeles. True, the guests of such a significant event were not at all lucky with the weather. Heavy rains have been pouring in California for several days now, and some cities in the state have even experienced minor flooding. Flooding, apparently, happened on the solemn path of the Golden Globe – many outfits of star actresses were spoiled due to the wet track. Soaked hems and trains of luxurious dresses fell into the lenses of photographers.
Last year, the Golden Globes did not actually take place due to a high-profile scandal – an investigation conducted by the Los Angeles Times revealed a corruption component in the selection of films in the nomination and subsequent voting for them, as well as a dubious scheme for financing the ceremony itself. In addition, the “Globe” was criticized for the lack of representatives of different races in the ranks of the association's members. As a result, the organizers carried out the necessary reforms and took into account all the critical moments.
Jerrod Carmichael became the host of the current award, at the beginning he announced from the stage that he was leading the ceremony “because he is black.” According to Variety, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a video message to the guests of the evening, among other things, declaring that there would be no third world war. Another memorable moment of the evening was the speech of Michelle Yeoh, recognized as the best actress in the musical/comedy category for the film “Everything Everywhere and At Once” – the producers of the ceremony tried to shorten the victory speech of the star by launching a musical loss, but Michelle told the musician to “shut up, or she will beat him ' and then continued her speech. Other recipients also began to thwart attempts to shorten their performances.
This year's award winner was acclaimed director Steven Spielberg, who received his third Globe for directing for Fabelmana. The film was also named Best Drama Picture of the Year. Martin McDonagh's “Banshee Inisherin” won Best Comedy Film, which also won Best Screenplay. “Banshee” brought Colin Farrell an award – he was recognized as the best actor in the comedy/musical category.
