Exactly a year has passed since the death of Jeanne Friske. Talk time
heals, but how many years should a man to the pain of the loss of a beloved woman
at least abated? Perhaps, over time, really gets easier, but
it is unlikely that she will disappear forever. A year after the death of Jeanne, her civil
spouse Dmitry Shepelev wrote her a letter, published in the journal Grazia.
The TV presenter spoke for the first time, together with his beloved two years
fought for her life. What pain endured, when it was all over.
“I tried to prepare as he could. Tried
to present this, often wondered how this happens — it is not
was no doubt only a matter of time. I read a lot, from medical books to
spiritual literature, carefully asked relatives, knowing how this moment
worried they. All was useless: the moment when you know that it’s over,
paralyzes, makes dumb, immobilized, stunned and completely empty. Difficult
to say, whether brought tragic news of the relief that could
only dream of in a desperate marathon two years struggle for life. Probably not.
Instead of relief came emptiness. And then the pain.”
Dmitry admitted that in the first months he was only saved by the books
and wine.
“Everything made sense at the time — just books and wine, wine
and books, books, wine and sleep. Nothing else seemed to work to distract, freeze
the pain, to forget. Feelings are not, as though someone dropped switch: no
fear, no joy, no sadness — just emptiness, with nothing to fill in, and pain.”
