“Peter pan” is the fourteenth full-length animated film by Disney studios, created based on the play by sir James Matthew Barry.
Walt Disney childhood was fascinated by the story of a boy who is not growing up. The great animator was a child when the play “Peter pan” sold out went to the theater. He and his brother Roy broke the piggy Bank to buy tickets for the performance. Soon Walt and he got the chance to play Peter pan in the school play.
In an early version of the script, the dog Nana had to travel to Neverland with the children. She even had a funny storyline: she’s been hunting for Tinker bell. But then the creators decided to leave the Nan in London.
To facial expressions of characters look natural, the animators asked for real actors to portray a particular emotion, and recorded the process on film, and then, on the basis of the received frames painted faces of the characters.
The artists worked on the image of Tinker bell as much as 15 years. During this time, a little fairy managed to turn from a burning brunette to platinum blonde. Only in 1951, legendary animator Marc Davis presented the final design of Walt Tinker bell. The prototype for the image of fairies was actress Margaret Kerry.
The song “the Second star to the right” was originally written for the animated film “Alice in Wonderland”, which was created around the same time as the animation, “Peter pan”.
Walt Disney planned to start work on the cartoon about Peter pan right after the animation project “the Snow white and the seven dwarfs”, but was not able to quickly get the film rights to this story. The picture was shown on the big screen in 1952.
