In the category we Wanted to share news from the world of beauty that I want to get right now. Today in our wishlist — aromas Art Meets Art, perfume brand, literally transforming sound into smell.
Numerous studies show that Millennials (people born after 1981, the year) stopped buying perfume. The younger generation doesn’t want to smell like a celebrity, and this means that they are not attracted to fragrances from Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera or Jennifer Lopez (the only exception is products Kim Kardashian). This is confirmed by statistics from Bloomberg, which shows a tectonic shift in the global perfumery market size of 50 billion dollars.
Millennials prefer an individual and unusual flavors such as Art Meets Art. A French brand whose products are sold in American Department store Saks, was founded in 2017 by the owner, Ali Kashani.
The first line includes four fragrances created by renowned perfumers such as Alberto Morillas, Christophe Raynaud, Frank Voelkl and Fabrice Pellegrin. The main point is that all the songs were inspired by iconic songs and become their olfactory embodiment. Agree, every song makes us certain feelings or brings back memories, so the title of the flavors we already know what it looks like and who can come.
Think about your favorite song. Where it might lead? May recall a beach in Mexico, the dance floor of a club in Ibiza or a cozy living room on a rainy Sunday out of town. Music is one of those weird things that can take you to another place and to immerse in the atmosphere of the past.
This idea formed the basis of the brand Art Meets Art. Kashani spent 11 years in the beauty industry for brands such as L’oreal and Unilever, creating flavors and learning from the best of the best. He also loved pop culture and music and decided to combine these two parallel worlds. He, along with the famous “noses” have chosen some of the most iconic songs of the past years and bring them into the spirits.
Aroma Like a Virgin (Like a virgin) — the story of eternal youth and purity. This floral composition with notes of musk and orange, reminiscent of the smell of new lipstick. Sexual Healing (“Sexual healing”) — a ferocious sensuality. As song of the same name, each fragrance aims to tell the story, the only difference is that instead of the words they use perfume notes, says the founder of the brand.
For example, Sexual Healing, created in honor of the famous song by Marvin Gaya, is a woody and spicy fragrance, with notes of honey and (now going to be a surprise!) sunscreen.
Perfumer Alberto Morillas (he’s the author of such bestsellers as CK One and Kenzo Flower) was inspired by the song Screamin ‘ Jay Hawkins I Put a Spell on You and decided that she must smell of citrus and spices. If you like the perfume Opium from Yves Saint Laurent, you’ll surely be in love I Put a Spell on You. It is woven with neroli, Mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, heliotropine, tobacco and vanilla.
Besame Mucho, which translated from Spanish means “kiss me a lot”, is the most sexy scent from the collection. It smells like an expensive after shave lotion with luxurious notes of toffee and black leather— Kashani explains.
One of the latest creations of the brand — the scent of Bohemian Rhapsody (“Bohemian Rhapsody”), devoted to the cult of the single 1975 the British band Queen, and now the Oscar-winning film. The fragrance is described as elegant, mysterious and romantic. Perfume interpretation of the song, combining elements of rock and Opera that are based on vintage of floral notes and patchouli. The composition includes chords of black currant and aldehydes (Yes, I agree, is quite a controversial combination), absolute of rose, tuberose, musk, patchouli and vetiver. What should a aroma devoted to such vivid personalities as Freddie mercury? Yes, the same shrill, like the voice of the legendary British singer.
Not to distract from the content, Kashani decided to leave design spirits minimalist — rectangular transparent vials in bold letters printed only the names of the worship songs. On the website you can order a set of probes (seven pieces of 1.5 mils) for just nine euros (670 rubles). Full fragrance (50 ml volume) will cost 80 euros (about 6 thousand rbl.).
