Russian film Director and
producer Timur Bekmambetov together with The Weinstein Company presented to
The international film festival in Toronto his new film “War of Currents” (The Current War) Benedict Cumberbatch
in the title role.
On September 9 at the festival, (TIFF) was held
premiere and 10 press conference with the participation of actors and creators
Timur Bekmambetov made the producer of the project along with
the Oscar-winning Harvey Weinstein
(“Shakespeare in love”, “sin City,” “Gangs of new York”).
In the U.S. the movie will be released in wide release November 24, 2017
year. The exact release date in Russia will appear a little later. Laminating film in
our country will be the film company BAZELEVS.
The picture of the “War of currents” tells about one of the main
innovations of our time, thanks to which our world is what it is, without
what humanity doesn’t imagine his life without electricity.
The story takes place in America of the late 19th and
the early 20th century. The plot, based on real events,
the confrontation of the great inventors, Industrialists, engineers: Thomas
Edison, George Westinghouse and Nikola Tesla. The first supported the expansion
in the US DC, and Tesla and Westinghouse for the transition to alternating current. In
world history this fight was called “war of currents”. It lasted more
100 years and ended as recently as 2007.
Edison in the movie played by Benedict Cumberbatch (“Doctor strange,” “Atonement” and the TV series
“Sherlock”), the role of Westinghouse performed Michael
Shannon (“Under cover of night”), Tesla — Nicholas hoult (“Mad Max: fury Road”). The film also
Tom Holland and Katherine Waterston.
Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (“me, Earl and the dying girl” series
