      “The IOC mourns the loss of a true Olympian. Our sympathies now are with the family of Stefan Henze, his friends and the whole German national team”, — said the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach.

      On Tuesday, the German team held a memorial event for the deceased coach, and all the sports facilities in the capital of the Olympic games this year were lowered to half mast the flags of the German national team.

      Stephan Henze has died at the age of 35 years. At the Olympics in Athens in 2004 he, along with his partner Markus Becker received a silver medal in rowing slalom.
