Red carpet opening of “MIFF-2019” has passed without Nikita Mikhalkov

In Moscow started 41-th Moscow international film festival red carpet for the first time took place without the President of the festival Nikita Mikhalkov.

This year the famous film festival is held again in the spring – last year it was moved up from June to April due to the world Cup. What is the reason that the festival now every year will be held in the spring at a special press-conferences were told by the President of the festival Nikita Mikhalkov: “it’s hard for Us make this decision. I understand the bright and Sunny weather, but most of the people are leaving and time of the event in June is not very convenient. Last year the attendance of the festival has increased significantly”. The Director was not able to welcome guests and photographers on the red carpet personally, Mikhalkov had two operations, after which he moves with crutches. Nikita appeared only at the opening ceremony, traditionally held in the cinema “Russia”. “The doctors told me not to sit or even lie, so the room can not be” – noted the Director from the stage.
In the main competition of the festival includes 13 films from different countries, Russia was represented by three films. Chairman of the jury was the South Korean Director Kim Ki-Duk at the opening ceremony received an honorary prize for contribution to world cinema. Also, the jury consisted of actress Irina Apeksimova.
