It’s official! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to North America! The Duke and Duchess of Sussexsee confirmed the shocking news in his long statement on 8 January.
New year, new home! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are packing their bags and heading to North America! The royals announced in a long statement Wednesday afternoon in Instagram, saying that they are retreating from their Royal duties to become more financially independent.
“After many months of deliberation and internal discussions we decided this year to make the transition to a new progressive role” — the beginning of the couple in an official message to Instagram, Royal Sussex from the 8th of January. “We intend to retreat to as the “senior” members of the Royal family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II”. The Duke and Duchess of Sussexsexy explained that their decision was thought over and discussed over the years.

We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. 35-year-old Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, 38, admitted that this step was decided partly for the introduction of the use of their 8-month-old son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
“This geographic balance will allow us to raise our son with gratitude for the Royal tradition, in which he was born, as well as provide our family an opportunity to focus on the next Chapter, including the launch of our new charity,” explained the proud parents. “We look forward to the opportunity to share all the details of this exciting next step in due time, as we continue to co-operate with Her Majesty the Queen, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. The couple revealed the news with a photo from the announcement of the engagement in November 2017. It is not clear when the Duke and Duchess will officially go to North America. This dramatic move is unprecedented in modern Royal history.
Harry and Megan spent their first festive Christmas season with her son Archie on Vancouver island, near the Pacific coast of Canada.
Although the news of their move came as a surprise to many, Harry and Megan have a history with the North American country. The actress has lived in Toronto when they filmed “Suits US”, and often spent time there with Harry before they married and moved to the UK. Not to mention the fact that the couple first appeared together in Toronto, the games Harry Invictus in 2017.
