44-year-old actress Charlize Theron has revealed shocking details about the murder of father and mother when the future star was 15.

The news of his father’s murder Charlize and her mother is not new. Early in his career, Theron said that her father had an accident, then admitted that there was a murder. But only now first hand learned the details of that terrible night: “My father was a sick man. He was an alcoholic my whole life – I didn’t know it. It was a hopeless situation in which stuck our family. When you live with an alcoholic, every day is unpredictable, and that feeling stays with you inside for life. I think that our family was not very healthy. Of course, all this affected us, have left their traces in our souls. I’d like to see what happened that night would never have happened. But, unfortunately, this occurs when you have not reached the root of these problems,” – says the actress.

Then Theron said that one day his father came home late in the night in severe intoxication. Charlize and her mother Gerda took refuge in the bedroom and was holding the door, because the furious man tried to break in to them. Then the father fired three shots directly at the door, and only a miracle saved mother and daughter from death. The next move was for Gerda, a woman shot and killed her husband in self-defense. The police took her side and the criminal case were not opened.

“Is violence in the family, and I share this history, this fate with many people. I’m not ashamed to talk about it, because I think the more we talk about these things, the more we realize that we are not alone. I think for me it was always a story about what it means to grow up and live with a person suffering from addiction, and what consequences this may have,” added Charlize.
