Natalia Vodianova
Today in Paris not only offers fashion Week, but starts the exhibition devoted to the work of designer Azzedine alaïa. This cultural event was timed and install a memorial plaque on the house at 18 Rue de La de La Verrerie, where the designer lived and worked. Exhibition Adrian and Alaïa: The Art of Tailoring, which presents the designer’s work, will run until June 23. It also will see the work of Hollywood costume designer Gilbert Adrian, who created unforgettable images for such films as “the Wizard of Oz” (The Wizard of Oz, 1939) and Anna Karenina (Anna Karenina, 1935).
Adrian, in particular, has developed a legendary ruby Slippers, which in the film was worn by Judy garland. This combination of two exhibitions by chance — Alaya admired the work of Hollywood masters.
At the exhibition visitors will be able to compare the legacy of two couturier and to notice the similarities in cut, choice of fabrics and styles.
