Ivan was born Bobul (1953) Porubne in the village of Chernivtsi region. In 1980 he began to sing in Chernivtsi, and then in the Ternopil Philharmonic. In 1991, already a famous singer, Bobul returned to Chernivtsi together with Lily Sandulesa.
