When pulled up to the Church the funeral cortege with the remains of Stephen Hawking, rang the bell. Sounded, 76 strikes, which is equal to the number of years of life of a theoretical physicist. Behind the hearse was followed by family and friends, including his children — Lucy, Robert and Tim. As soon as the train stopped, people came to say goodbye to Hawking, erupted with applause.
The coffin was decorated with flower arrangements, each of which meant something was so interested in Hawking, one of white lilies, which portrayed a universe, the other of white roses, representing the North star. The coffin in the Church has made six porters from University College Gonville & Keyes.
“Our father lived and worked in Cambridge for over 50 years. He was an integral and prominent part of life in the city”, — stated in the statement of the children of Stephen Hawking. Therefore, we decided to hold a memorial service in the city that he loved and who loved him. The life and work of our father meant a lot to many people, both religious and not religious.”
