June 18 on the First channel premiered a new television project. The series “Garden ring” tells the story of middle-class life, about the problems and routine of affluent people. Produced by Valery Todorovsky.

The series “Garden ring” instantly became a sensation of the television season. At first glance it seems that the project is concerned with the standard theme of “the rich also cry”, but it’s not. The intricate relationships, the constant intrigue and even murder — all of this you have to face the main characters.

The producer of the series was made by Valery Todorovsky, but the Director’s chair was taken by the debutant Alexei Smirnov. At the time of filming, he was only 23 years old, but the young Director was able to cope not only with stress, but also to get along with a stellar cast.

“This is my debut and first major project. Absolutely brilliant scenario Anna Kozlova. I think the idea of the film is very relevant. I haven’t seen other examples, so that our movie spoke on this topic. This film is about how a man displaces himself from his life everything that he doesn’t want to know and see, and invented reality starts and how it ends,” said the film Director Alexey Smirnov.

Starring in the series played by Maria Mironova, Irina Rozanova, Maxim Vitorgan and Maria Golubkina. The plot revolves around the beauty of Faith Smolina. She has a rich husband, a great apartment and beloved child. It would seem that what can happen in the family of such a woman? But once her son Elijah disappears, and the husband unexpectedly due to problems at work.

Actress Maria Mironov admitted that she was extremely like the scenario Anna Kozlova.

The first series of the project caused a very mixed reaction from the audience. Many have condemned the Director for excessive frankness, because he deliberately inserted in the plot dialogues about sex, infidelity and sexual problems of the main characters.

However, the majority of fans on the contrary praised Alexey for the desire to show well-off Muscovites not superficially, but with analysis of their real problems.

Producer and author Valery Todorovsky said that this project is of huge importance because it speaks about contemporary issues and people, characters which are familiar to everyone.

“The garden ring” – the project unique, local, very hard. What is valuable to me, it is about our modern life, and not about nostalgic retro, which is full of our we do. This series about our contemporaries, Frank, very honest, sometimes even excessively, dangerously honest. I think the film is about a new phenomenon which is in the country and about which nothing is removed. What is called the modern Russian middle class. As they exist in this reality, fear or not fear. I think many can learn in this film themselves and their lives,” – said Todorovski

Not many fans of the project know that the shooting and post-production took away from the Director and the whole team for four years. Work on the “Garden ring” began in 2014, but on screen he came out only now.

The Director had to face considerable criticism. According to some fans, Alex managed to get a job only through connections of his father, Director Andrei Smirnov. However, the young person denies such a scenario.

The debate about the genre in which filmed “Garden ring”. At first glance, the series is a complete drama with elements of melodrama and Thriller. However, the fans saw in the story a satire not only on life of the bourgeoisie, but also on all modern television.

Alexey Smirnov said that he filmed the story of the life of one family. It does contain satirical elements, but on the first plan, the Director still wanted to put drama.
