Makonnen Tesfaye, the so-called biological father of the musician, gave an interview in which he told about his feelings to the son.

“I have a dream – to build a bridge between me and my son. I want this more than anything and it’s hard for me to even think about what we spend our time on offense. I want to apologize to him because I wasn’t there in a difficult time for him when he really needed me.
My son every day in my thoughts, and I want to tell him in person how proud I am of them” — said the man.
On the question of whether he approves his son’s choice in the face of Selena Gomez, Makonnen said:
“I will take each step and trust him. Sure it takes a wise and informed decisions. Everything that makes him happy makes me happy” said Tesfaye, senior.
Makonnen and mother of Abell Samra both originally from Ethiopia. They met in 1987 in Montreal. When the couple had a son, he was like two peas similar to his father (says Makonnen).
