A bit of theory

For growth, plants need three main components: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. These elements are most often found on bags of fertilizers, which are sold in stores. Nitrogen is needed for leaf growth, phosphorus for flower and fruit development, and potassium is responsible for the overall health of plants. But in addition to these basic elements the plant needs more and many other substances, called micronutrients. Among them, for example, magnesium, calcium, sulfur.

Also the health of the plants depends on the acidity of the soil, bacteria that create a suitable environment.

All of these factors can be controlled, making certain fertilizers.

What can be used as organic fertilizer

Coffee grounds

Coffee grounds are organic fertilizer which not only nourishes the soil with nitrogen, but also increases its acidity. Such a fertilizer will suit roses, hydrangeas, magnolias and violets.

Just mix coffee grounds with soil in the ratio of 1 to 4, make the mixture into the soil near plant stems.

Banana peel

Banana peels are rich in potassium and calcium, so it is perfect as a fertilizer for flowers and fruit trees. Just bury the peel under the plant, it will quickly decompose and fertilize the soil. You can still do that and by the bananas that turned black or was perestali. If you soak the peel in water for 2-3 days, you can make a liquid fertilizer.

Bitter salt

Bitter salt is sold in pharmacies. She is able to enrich the soil with magnesium and sulfur. This fertilizer is excellent for tomatoes and roses. A solution of this salt is well suited for germination of seeds. It is noteworthy that with this fertilizer is quite difficult to overdo it, as it quickly decomposes into magnesium components.

Recipe:

  • tablespoon Epsom salts
  • 4 liters of water

The resulting solution can be watered indoor and outdoor plants.

Salt can also be put in the ground at the rate of 1 tablespoon per every 50 inches of height of the plant.

Eggshell

Eggshell is very rich in calcium, which is necessary for the growth of all plants. You can just crush the eggshells and bury it in the soil near the plants. If you want the fertilizer work fast, prepare a spray-based eggshell.

Recipe:

  • the shell 20 eggs
  • 4 liters of water

Boil the eggshells for several minutes, leave it in water overnight. Strain the solution and use it for watering or spraying plants.

Grass

Fertilizer with high nitrogen content can be made from grass clippings.

Recipe:

20 litre capacity complete the cut grass and cover with water. Leave on for 3-5 days. Strain the solution. Use the tincture for irrigation, spasiva it with water in proportion 1 to 10.

Infusion on the compost

This fertilizer is the same as described above, but instead of grass used organic compost. The solution of such infusion can be used for watering any plants.
