The film of Russian Director Cyril Serebrennikov “(M)the student” will be shown at the upcoming 69th Cannes film festival within the program “Special look”. Note that this is the second program after the main contest of the show.

The picture “(M)” removed based on the homonymous theatrical performances Serebrennikov on the play by German playwright Marius von Mayenburg. The film is set in a private secondary school. In the center of the story — the schoolboy Benjamin, who suddenly decides that he knows all about moral norms, about how they need to respect and from whom to protect what is good and what is bad — in a world that is mired in lies, evil and hypocrisy. His behavior is a serious test for the others — single mothers, teachers, classmates — and raises important intergenerational and social issues.
