The big story related to the murder of a friend of the famous Paralympian Oscar Pistorius continued.
A brilliant career Paralympic athlete broke on 14 February 2013, when Pistorius shot and killed his girlfriend, the famous TV presenter and model Riva Steenkamp, allegedly mistaking her for a burglar. It happened at night, and the athlete claimed that he woke up from a strange noise in the bathroom – being in the full confidence that the house was a thief, he fired several shots. The girl died on the spot. He received five years in prison for manslaughter, but a year later he was placed under house arrest.
Under pressure from the relatives of the murdered and public outrage, the case was returned for revision and Pistorius was again in prison with a term of six years and manslaughter.
On the fateful night, neighbours heard the couple swore a long time, then the noise stopped. Apparently, Riva tried to hide from an angry Oscar in the bathroom, where she caught the bullets. According to new data of the investigation, Steenkamp repeatedly said that he was afraid of Pistorius because of his aggressive outbursts. Today court of South Africa has increased the prison sentence of the athlete up to 13 years and five months.
