Yulia Tarnovetskaya: “I believe that life is a game, and you need to enjoy every moment of it” Yulia is not just a designer, she is a creative soul who puts her love for brightness, style and celebration into each collection. In this interview, Yulia will talk about how the UNEED brand was born, what difficulties she faced on the way to success, and how she sees the future of her brainchild.

What inspired you to create the UNEED brand?

Since childhood, I liked stylish things and outfits. Even when I was very little, for my very first photo, I already put on my mother's beads, clips, looked for bright lipstick – I always liked to stand out. In kindergarten, I dressed very smartly, and in the first grade, I was chosen to ring the bell with an 11th-grader, because, according to the teachers, I was the most stylish girl. This love for style, you could say, was embedded in my DNA.
At school, I drew sketches of future looks every day, thinking about how to style clothes to look different every day.
The idea to create a clothing brand came to me from my sister, who was looking for herself. In search of my own path, I decided to try myself as a clothing designer. My sister sewed the first batch of things, but realized that this was not her calling. She left the clothes lying around and suggested to me: “If you can sell these things, then let's do this yourself.” That's how I started my journey in the fashion world.

How did you start your journey? What challenges did you face?

My journey into the world of fashion began with a simple hobby. I created a page on social networks, did my first photo shoot, and I liked it so much that I decided to continue. I took the contacts of a tailor and a designer, went to fashion illustration and fashion sketch courses. In 2016, I already had my first employee, and we began sewing collections on an outsourced basis. The first years were full of difficulties. Back then, creating clothing brands was not so widespread, there were no courses on “fashion business”, “create a clothing brand from scratch”. Now this is a very popular topic, but back then, if you did not have an education, but had a desire, you made mistakes yourself and learned from your mistakes.
I did not know how many meters of fabric were needed for a coat, and overpaid for my incorrect calculations. I also overpaid the tailor, who unreasonably inflated prices. I did not yet understand how to create a clothing brand, and bought buttons that did not fit, there was not enough lining. The first year I simply learned from my own mistakes.
Difficulties in the fashion business are a constant reality. In the beginning, there were difficulties with sales, with sewing, with quality control. I had to do everything myself. My path was not easy, but I do not regret anything.

Yulia Tarnovetskaya:

Tell us about the highlights of the first two years of the brand's development. What was the most difficult and what was the most inspiring?

The first two years were a real hurricane of emotions! The highlight, of course, was my first sale at a fashion market. It was like a takeoff, like proof that I was on the right track. Then I sold a dress to a young girl, and it was so inspiring!
The highlight was the decision to open a showroom.
I have always believed in my brand. I lived it, loved dressing up, being in a fashionable space. When we renovated the showroom, I spent all my time there. And now I believe in my success. This belief has not passed.

What is the main philosophy of the UNEED brand? What do you want to say with your clothes?

UNEED's philosophy is simple but profound: bring a holiday into your life. I want to say with my clothes that you can stand out even on the most ordinary day.
The world is full of basic things, but I offer bright colors, unusual cuts, interesting design. I believe that every day can be a reason for joy, for new achievements.
UNEED is a reflection of my inner world, my love for brightness and celebration. I want people to dress in a way that makes them feel comfortable and happy. So that they feel confident and bright, not afraid to stand out from the crowd.
I believe that life is a game, and you need to enjoy every moment, even work. UNEED is an invitation to a bright life, to bring more colors and joy into your world.

How do you find inspiration for creating new collections?

Inspiration for me is like air, it is everywhere! I draw it from everything I see around me: from people, from the world, from films, from TV series, from music, from nature. I am a creative person, and for me inspiration is not something rare and inaccessible, but rather a daily practice.
I can wake up at night with an idea for a new dress, see an interesting silhouette in a movie and take a screenshot, notice a stylish look on an influencer, or just look at a green tree and see inspiration for a new look in it.
I live in the world of fashion, and I see beauty in every detail. And this inspires me to create new collections that will reflect my inner world and bring bright colors to people's lives.

Yulia Tarnovetskaya:

How do you think UNEED clothes differ from other brands?

UNEED differs from other brands in that my style, my vision, my soul are clearly visible in them.
Brands often work according to templates, trends, business plans. But UNEED is a reflection of my inner world, my emotions, my desires. My collections are not just clothes, but a story about my life, my mood, my dreams. And this is felt in every detail, in every cut, in every fabric.
I am not afraid to be myself, and I want my clothes to reflect my individuality. I do not blindly follow trends, but use them as inspiration to create something new, something of my own.
And this is what makes UNEED a unique brand. It is not just clothes, but a story told through fabric and design.
I do not try to please everyone, but create clothes for those who want to stand out, who are looking for non-standard solutions, who want to bring bright colors to their lives. And I am happy that I have found my clients who share my philosophy.

How do you see the future of the UNEED brand? What are your plans for development?

The future of UNEED is bright and full of plans! Clients from different countries love UNEED, and this gives me strength and inspiration to move forward.
Now I want to focus on developing the brand and strengthening its position in the existing market. But my plans include entering the Russian market and the UAE market.
I see UNEED as an international brand that will bring joy and style to women around the world. And I am sure that we will succeed!
