The 96th season in the Vakhtangov theatre opened one of the most popular plays from the repertoire — “the Imaginary invalid”. The main role is played by Sergey Makovetsky. However, this did not prevent the artist a few hours before the performance to come to a gathering of the troupe.

Also in the plans of the theatre: the Polish play “Our class” (in her homeland, she was awarded the main literary prize) and “miss Julie” by Strindberg play. Especially on collecting troupe the art Director of Humanas Tuminas allocated
the Moscow premiere of Russian-Greek play “Oedipus the King”. Performers of the main roles in the tragedy of Sophocles
are Vakhtangov (Viktor Dobronravov, Lyudmila Maksakov, Evgeny Knyazev and others) and a choir (11) is occupied by Greek actors.
The world premiere of “Oedipus Rex” with the huge success of last summer in the oldest existing Greek amphitheater Epidaurus, in the presence of ten thousand spectators, including the President of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos. Before the Moscow premiere, the show will still play in Athens, on the southern slopes of the Acropolis. And on 13 November, the day of the 95th anniversary of the Vakhtangov theatre, the play will show in Moscow.

And even earlier, in October, the theater opens the new theater hall “Art cafe”. It around the stage tables,
where the audience is gonna sit and watch a variety of programs — recitals, poetry readings, performances of the orchestra of the Vakhtangov
theatre, solo concerts and performances of the invited artists of different
performing genres. Among the first meetings with the audience in
“Art cafe” will play Evgeny Knyazev, Marina Esipenko, Sergei Makovetsky,
Vladimir Simonov, Yuri Shlykov, Alexei Guskov and other famous Vakhtangov.
