The international Association of athletics federations (IAAF) refused to consider the request of the Russian pryguny with a pole to participate in some of the world’s most famous competitions in Brazil. Elena and other athletes plan to appeal the decision of the organization in court. The verdict in the case of athletes will announce no later than July 21.

Today it became known that the international Association of athletics federations (IAAF) rejected the application of the double Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva to participate in a number of international sporting events, including the Olympic games in 2016. This is due to the fact that Isinbayeva was involved in scandals related to doping. Except for Elena, the IAAF rejected the candidacy of Russian athletes.

The actions of the IAAF based on the decision of the Council of the organization, which was adopted on 17 June. According to him, to participate in the Olympic games allowed only athletes who were able to prove their innocence to doping scandals and the Russian anti-doping system as a whole.

Only the IAFF sent about 136 individual applications. Of these, only 68 people claimed to participate in some of the most prestigious sporting events in the world.

The Olympic Committee of Russia and 68 athletes, including Yelena Isinbayeva, filed the suit at the court of arbitration for Sport in Lusanne. Their case will be considered on July 19, the decision on it will announce no later than July 21, and the deadline for final bids in the national team of Russia for participation in Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro on July 22.
