The doctors gave the athlete a disappointing diagnosis – a fracture of the spine with displacement. The young woman had to undergo several operations, but doctors failed to put her on her feet.

To recover, Maria and her partner Alex went to Marbella, where the athlete regularly trained. In November 2016, the lovers staged a wedding on the Spanish island of Tenerife. At the ceremony, the young people gathered loved ones. “Thank you all for this day! Everything went super!
