The first guitarist of the rock group “DDT” Rustem Asanbaev died from lung cancer in his hometown, Ufa. A long time musician struggling with the disease and not be the last to left the stage. Asanbaev played in the group “Blues Trip”.
According to various sources, a few months ago, Rustem became ill during the concert. Guitarist urgently hospitalized in city hospital No. 22. After performing a comprehensive examination, the doctors diagnosed him with lung cancer. Asanbaev was treated at the Republican clinical Oncology dispensary.
In the fall of 2015 colleagues of Rustem groups “Boogie Band”, “Blues Trip” and “the year of the snake” staged in the dispensary, a charity rock concert to support the musician. Asanbaev also took up the guitar and played for the staff of the clinic and its patients one of the songs.
In February of this year in the RK “Fires of Ufa hosted a charity concert with the participation of small, acoustic part of “DDT”. On the stage of the Ufa and other groups: “Outrider”, “Boogie band”, “The Donuts”. The show, organized at the initiative of Yury Shevchuk, has collected 2 million rubles for the treatment asanbayeva.

Rustem of Asanbaev played in the group “DDT” since its Foundation until 1983. He was the first guitarist in Ufa, which started playing rock and Blues. After leaving the band he occasionally played at concerts as a guest musician. In 1997 Rustem released a solo Blues album “Passenger”. The guitarist was one of the brightest representatives of the rock of the twentieth century. Many called Rustem “the great and terrible Asanbay”, “a disciple of Jimi Hendrix”, and for close friends he was the “bogeyman”.
