Guests of Country festival named after Shalyapin became part of a significant event. Paintings of Isaac Levitan were stolen in the Ivanovo region three years ago. Today, the artist is sent back to his Home-Museum.

A historic event is taking place today in the town of Plyos. Within the Country of the Shaliapin festival, organized a solemn ceremony of handing the stolen paintings of Isaac Levitan in his House-Museum. The unique event was attended by spectators and participants a two-day music marathon, among which are the Opera stars and singers. In Levitanovskoy cultural centre, which yesterday gave a solo concert pianist-virtuoso Denis Matsuev, today gathered distinguished guests. Joseph Kobzon with spouse Nelli, Anita Tsoy with her son Sergei, the family of Viktor and Tamara Skulevich, as well as residents of the picturesque town.

Present at the ceremony had a brief excursion into the history, pointing out key events in the life of the legendary artist, who was known to have been inspired by the atmosphere of this amazing city in the Ivanovo region. Also the Governor of the region Pavel Konkov told in detail about how it was conducted the investigation of the stolen works, focusing on the fact that the search was a long one.

The audience, who decided to become part of this special event, with delight and awe reacted to the immortal creations of the artist. The guests were shown the paintings, which were written in the last years of his life Levitan, among which the “Quiet river” and “Roses.” Ultimately, Plyos Museum-reserve was returned to 5 works.

At the ceremony, special attention was paid to the police officers involved in investigating high-profile cases of theft of paintings. Professionals thanked for their work and congratulated them on their successful outcome.
