Evgeni Plushenko

The coaching staff of the Federation of figure skating of Russia (FSFR) considers that two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko should be included in the Russian national team for the 2016/17 season.

All the leaders that we have at the moment, recommended in the national team of Russia. Plushenko is also recommended coaching Council. He is preparing and intends to participate in the tournaments of this season, so we’re keeping him in the lineup,

However, will take into account the recommendations of coaches or not, is still unknown: it will be decided at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Federation, the date of which is not reported.

Note that in October last year, Plushenko was included in the expanded structure of Russian national team on winter Olympic games in 2018. Skater himself, who in March underwent another operation on the spine, has repeatedly said that to leave big-time sports is not going and wants to continue to defend the honor of the country.
