In the capital today was the funeral of the greatest Opera singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky, and the United States came the news of the nomination of the stars on the main music award on the planet.

The owner of an absolutely unique voice and incredible masculine charm, the legendary singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky died in the early morning of 22 November. He was only 55. More than two years he fought bravely with a serious illness – brain cancer. The term of life allotted to him by the doctors, ended in November last year. But thanks to the real Siberian health and the power of the spirit, Dmitry recovered from the death of the whole year and managed to realize his dream – in early June, he once again returned to his native Krasnoyarsk and through the pain, performed on the stage. Didn’t stop him and hand injury – a few days before the concert, the singer fell in St. Petersburg and tore the tendon, which his right hand was practically immobilized.

Last exit Hvorostovsky on stage took place in Austria on June 22 – with the Opera singer Aida Garifullina he played the song “Moscow nights”.

According to the will of the singer, after yesterday’s really popular the farewell ceremony in the Concert hall named after Tchaikovsky, his body was cremated and the ashes divided into two parts. The first urn was buried today at the Novodevichy cemetery in the capital, the second will go to Krasnoyarsk, where the authorities are already discussing the creation of a special memorial, dedicated to the star, where will be installed the box. Dmitry left a wife Florence and five children, two of whom are from his first marriage, one girl was also adopted in the first marriage.

Today was named to the list of contenders for the prestigious award “Grammy” – Hvorostovsky was nominated for his album “song cycle by Sviridov: Russia set sail” – the musician claim to the award in the category “Best classical solo vocal album”. The winners will be announced on 28 January 2018.
