Today, January 10, at 82-m to year of life has died the national
artist of Russia Mikhail Derzhavin. In the memory of the beloved actor, we remembered a few
important facts of his life.

Theater since childhood, was his destiny

Mikhail Derzhavin was born June 15, 1936 in Moscow, in the family
the leading actor of Vakhtangov’s theatre, Mikhail Derzhavin and S. Iraida
Ivanovna Derjavini. The childhood of the future artist was held in the famous house on the street
Vakhtangov (now Bolshoi Nikolopeskovsky lane, the heart of Moscow
the historical intertwining of the famous Arbat streets), next to the Theatre
school named Shchukin.

The boy grew up in a Bohemian environment. The housemates were
famous actors, musicians and artists in those days this stratum of society
called creative intelligentsia. A guest at the Derzhavins were often
the famous “Vakhtangov”: Ruben Simonov, Viktor Koltsov, Anatoly Goryunov,
Nikolai Okhlopkov, Andrei Abrikosov.

For these stars every day children played home staging — set tales, invented scenery from
huge maps, made costumes. In General, it was clear that the Derzhavin, who was constantly in
the theatrical atmosphere, simply could not become an actor. The theatre was not that
dream little Misha — rather his fate.

During the great Patriotic war the Theater. Vakhtangov, where he played the father, were evacuated to Omsk. It was there, in a local hospital, and held the first “solo” performance of little Misha: he learned a monologue from the play “field Marshal Kutuzov” and read it in front of the wounded soldiers of the Soviet Army.

“My dad played Kutuzov. But this time read the text I had recalled Derzhavin. — I still remember the audience — the wounded, with bandaged arms, legs, heads. When I uttered the words: “the Enemy will be defeated!”, applause — clapping for the wounded bandaged hands”.
